Document Actions

Manufacture growth and the developing of natural resources, set a demand for highly qualified specialists. In 1956, an educational center (EC) was opened as a part-time department of the Ural Polytechnical Institute in Tyumen . And by 1962, there were more than 700 students trained to be specialists in machine building, fuel and energy, and construction.

By motion of the local authorities in 1963, Tyumen Industrial Institute (TII) was established on the base of the Center.

The institute grew alongside the development of a regional program which was oriented to the infrastructure growth of Western Siberia . It didn't take much time to provide the institute with a material and technical base and to form the staff. TII was the first oil institute in Siberia to train local specialists for oil and gas discovery and development. It was in 1964, when the first barges and tankers delivered Tyumen oil to Omsk Refinery Enterprise and Tyumen Industrial Institute accepted the first students. In 1967, the first graduates (who had entered the institute after finishing courses in the EC) completed the program and the first producing Samotlor well was joined to the oil gathering network.

At the end of 1970, TII became the head institute to fulfill the program “Oil and Gas in Western Siberia”, which was introduced by the Siberian Department of Academy of Science of USSR and the Ministry Institute of Russian Soviet Federative Socialistic Republic(RSFSR). 17 Russian institutions of higher education participated in this program.

Tyumen Industrial Institute, training specialists for Siberian fuel and energy structure and most of oil-and-gas enterprises functioning on the territory from Ural to Far East , became an institute of national significance.

In 1994, the institute developed into Tyumen State Oil-and-Gas University (TSOGU). The university today, just as many years ago, is an essential part of the regional life. It successfully combines a united highly qualified staff of professors and research subdivisions. Research staff of TSOGU apply the results of fundamental research in the field. They patented more than 850 inventions. Research study of TSOGU is focused on the needs of the region and the fulfillment of scientific and technical programs and Federal grants. Not only Russia is acquainted with research work of TSOGU. Several leading scientists of the university are members of International Academies. TSOGU has joined International Association of Circumpolar universities and International Academy of Science.

TSOGU - students who participate in prestigious conferences and win scientific and sport competitions. TSOGU - graduates who now are enterprise managers, scientists, officials, highly qualified specialists.
