The Tyumen State Oil and Gas University was created on December, 04, 1963. It is one of 10 largest educational institutions of the Urals Federal Area and is the biggest in Russia between those of the oil and gas profile. It has 4 institues in its composition: Technological Institute, Geology and Geoinformatics, Transport, Oil and Gas; 17 branches; Additional Education Institute, Institute to Raise the Qualification Level and Further Training of the Personnel, Preparing Centre to Enter the University, Lyceum, Humanitarian Institute, as well as 16 Scientific Research Institutes, including 6 Superior Education Institutes, organized ny the University jointly with the Technical Scientific Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of Russia.
