The Tyumen State Oil and Gas University is one of the first educational institutions of the oil branch in Russia which introduced the distance education system in Western Siberia .
Distance education is the most progressive technology of studies by correspondence, where the modern telecommunication means and the newest methods of studies are used. These works are coordinated by the Distance education Centre- a structural scientific-and-methodical unit of the University created in 1996.
The activity of the Centre is based on traditions of the distance studies in Russia and the experience of the leading educational institutions of England , Germany , Holland and other leading countries in area of the distant studies.
The education is complemented by an extensive use of the laboratories, provided with virtual facilities.
