The International Office was organized by the rector's order dated 2 September, 2005, in order to provide international activity of the University.

The Office has the following structural units:

• Academic mobility department
• International projects department
• Protocol department
• Centre for working with international students
• Laboratory for intensive methods of foreign languages teaching

Taking into consideration the resources of the Office and its structural units, four main directions of activity have been assigned for 5 years period:

• Participation in international research and educational projects and programs
• Extension of international co-operation with oversea companies
• Popularization of foreign languages
• Organization of international forums

Development of international links and partnership with oversea foundations and institutions is one of the main priorities of the university. The TSOGU has become a subject of international collaboration since the time of its foundation. Today the University supports contractually agreed cooperation both with foreign higher educational institutions and advanced transcontinental companies of oil and gas sector. Among them are:

The University actively promotes participation in international programmes funded by European Union (TEMPUS/TACIS), providing quite a good opportunity for the researchers and students to gain experience in international collaboration, living and studying abroad, and for the University itself – to integrate into the European educational Community.
