Scientific research in the institution was always considered to be one of the most important components of its activity.

Nowadays the Tyumen State Oil and Gas University possesses 16 scientific research institutes, centres and problem laboratories, where more than 120 doctors and 350 candidates of science carry out the works. The scientists of the University take part in research programs and federal level grants, execute scientific research and experimental construction work under requests of industrial enterprises and unions. The institution patented more than 850 inventions, and has the rich experience of applications in the industry.
